The Questar III BOCES’ Department of Technology Services is comprised of a team of computing professionals dedicated to creating student success by leveraging of 21st century technologies within a cost-effective shared services framework in alignment with the Shared Success strategic plan. The Department of Technology Services organizational structure is comprised of three units: Enterprise Help Desk , Field Operations and Systems Administration . Collectively, our Department’s team members possess more than 120 years of combined expertise within the technology arena.

Career Studies programs provide high school students (ages 16-21) with entry-level training in a technical area or trade at an alternative learning pace. These programs are designed to provide more customized career instruction and experience in a supportive learning environment. Career Studies programs have a small student-teacher ratio and are taught by certified teachers with substantial real-world experience in their given trade. The smaller class size provides an individualized course of instruction that helps the student to become successful in the world of work.

Currently, we serve 15 school districts in three counties. We also provide services to the BOCES and its partner organizations. We have a staff of nine, including one director, one webmaster, one graphic designer and six communications specialists.

The cost is based on the estimated amount of time needed to provide the service. There is a significant investment of time for the initial valuation. During the subsequent years we expect the valuations to be less time consuming. GASB 45 specifically allows for biennial and triennial valuations. We will be able to provide you with a valuation report that includes the results for both the current fiscal year as well as the projected results for the subsequent fiscal year. The CBO (Centralized Business Office) model typically consists of performing the “core” functions of a school district business office. Those “core” functions include accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger accounting. The Questar III CBO model includes those “core” functions; however, we will modify our model based on the needs of our clients. For instance, our model already includes grant management services as well as fixed asset management accounting.
