The RFG Distributing Story - Three Generations Strong With a 40 plus year history serving the pet industry, RFG Distributing is a family-owned, third generation business started by Glenn Thoeny in 1967. In 1978, RFG entered into a distribution agreement with the Iams Company to provide Iams and Eukanuba products to customers in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Western Wisconsin. In 1983, brothers Craig and Mark Thoeny purchased the business from Glenn. Steve Thoeny (Craig’s son) joined the RFG Distributing team in 1990, making it a third generation business. During 1993, RFG signed an Iams product only exclusive agreement with Clay Mathile, president of the Iams Company. In September of 2001, RFG added the states of Iowa and Nebraska to its existing territory. In the fall of 2005, the Iams Company decided to allow the Iams distributors to carry other lines of pet foods. In February 2006, RFG expanded and added additional pet food lines. At the same time we expanded to include Kansas and Missouri to our exisiting territory. In 2008 RFG has expanded to serve 11states including Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North & South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, the UP of Michigan and parts of Indiana. Today, RFG has a 50,000 square foot facility in Crystal, MN, a warehouse in the Des Moines area, and a warehouse in the Milwaukee area.
