Description

When you examine a piston you rarely examine the bottom of the ring groove. Even if you looked at the grooves of the same style pistons, seeing a difference without a micrometer would be difficult. From manufacturer to manufacturer, however, there can be differences in what is called the root groove diameter. The main difference is in what is called compensated ring grooves. What is compensated ring groove? Basically the root groove diameter is moved with the oversize. For years manufacturers would supply the STD root groove diameter for all oversize's. A .060 oversize piston would have the STD root groove diameter. A compensated ring groove means the root groove diameter would move with the oversize. A .060 oversize piston has the root groove moved out .060. In addition, the ring manufacturers compensate each oversize to match the piston, so there is no need to worry about matching rings and pistons.By compensating the ring grooves it cuts down the space between the back of the groove and the ring. This cuts down on un-burnt fuel stored in this area.

United Engine relocated to Carson City, Nevada in 1978, where it has continued to grow. Since it's move, United Engine has continued to look at it's role in the domestic and world market. Currently, UEM manufactures the Silvolite OE aftermarket piston line, KB Performance Pistons (including the motorcycle division), and The Claimer Performance Piston Series. United Engine and Machine Company is now enjoying more than 80 years in business.

SRP Pistons is proud to announce a new addition to our very popular product line, "SRP Professional.” SRP Professional pistons include features used in professional racing such as lightweight forged side relief (FSR) forgings, high quality wrist pins, and precision CNC machined ring grooves and skirts. In addition, every package includes JE Pro Seal Premium Piston Rings. The included ring set features a 1.2 premium steel top ring, 1.5mm Napier (hooked face) second ring and 3.0mm standard tension oil ring. Every piston is designed and manufactured in the USA at the advanced JE/SRP Pistons manufacturing center. Alan Stevenson, JE/SRP Pistons Product Manager feels, “This new line of SRP Pistons will change everything the industry knows about affordable forged pistons. The features you would normally find in a high quality set of JE Pistons can be found at the affordable price of SRP Pistons. There is nothing comparable on the market.” The development of SRP Professional took place over the course of an entire year. The piston designs were created using 3D computer modeling and tested for strength using Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
