Of course everyone has heard this cliché, but exactly what does it mean when it comes to your pet's health? Regular medical check-ups, vaccinations, and dental care as as important to the health of your pet as they are to the health of your children or yourself! At Radnor, we can clean and polish your pet's teeth, help keep him safe from heartworm disease by heartworm testing and treating with preventative medications, check his vaccine titers to make sure he is protected, prevent unwanted breeding and other health problems with spay and neuter surgery, as well as provide you with information on a vast range of pet care subjects. We also offer the flea and tick control products and information needed to keep your pets, human family members, and your house free from these nasty biting pests! Diagnostic Testing If your pet is sick, you want to be able to find out what's wrong and start fixing it as soon as possible! At Radnor Veterinary Hospital, we have the ability to perform basic blood chemistry panels, complete blood counts, platelet counts, fecal parasite checks, examination of urine, testing for feline leukemia virus (FeLV), feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), canine and feline heartworm disease, and many dermatological conditions at our hospital, saving time and allowing us to treat your pet faster. Cytology and gram stains can also be performed to hasten diagnosis and treatment. We also have access to excellent outside labs for more specialized testing. We have the capability to produce quality radiographs (X-rays) in-house, as well as access to a board-certified specialist who can come to our hospital to perform chest/abdominal ultrasound exams. These radiographs can be reviewed by a local board-certified radiologist in particularly complex cases. Dental Care Did you know that dental disease is the number one health problem affecting dogs and cats ? It is estimated that 80% of dogs and 70% of cats show signs of oral disease by age three! Although our pets are not as susceptible to cavities as we are, dental disease can still have serious, even lethal, consequences for our animals. Dental disease has been linked to problems with the heart, kidneys, and other internal organs in dogs and cats. At Radnor, we can take care of dental problems both mild and severe, including thoroughly cleaning and polishing your cat or dog's teeth, fluoride treatments, or extracting diseased teeth. We can also show you how to brush your dog or cat's teeth (It's not as hard as you may think!) to help keep them healthier! Soft tissue and orthopedic surgery Here at Radnor, our vets really enjoy surgery and we can take care of a large variety of your pet's surgical needs, from spays and neuters to correction of stomach dilation and torsion to fracture management on animals of all types and beak repair in birds. Our vets also perform hip and knee surgery.
