Rage Box Dance Center

Description

Katie Vaught has studied dance for over 20 year. She began her training under the direction of Gennadi and Susan Vostrikov in Winchester, VA and attended summer sessions at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. She continued her studies at Shenandoah University before going on to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. She has taught at Vostrikov’s Academy of Ballet, Dance.Tech in Blacksburg, VA, and for the Performing and Visusal Arts Northwest program. Her experience also includes adjudicating for Virginia Summer Residential Governor’s School and five years as a substitute teacher of all ages in the public school system.

Students in our Rage Box Contemporary Dance Companies, Boxed Fresh Hip Hop Crew and Rage Box Noise Tap Companies participate in several competitions and workshops throughout the season. Company members have won multiple high score and Judges Choice Awards in both regional and national competitions. Two years in a row our Advanced Dance Company and Crew have been awarded the prestigious FDC Choice award at several regional competitions. In 2010 and 2011 The Rage Box Contemporary Dance Company “Inspire” and Senior Boxed Fresh Crew were selected to participate in “Dancin’ Downtown” at The Joyce Theatre in NYC as part of DRA (Dancers Responding to Aids) Annual Fundraising Event.

The award winning Rage Box Contemporary Dance Company Program consists of three different competitive Companies. The Rage Box Contemporary Jazz & Lyrical Dance Companies, the Boxed Fresh Hip Hop Crew and Rage Box Noise Tap Company. Companies are by audition only in the spring of each year and are open to all students age 7-18 who wish to participate in competitions and more performance opportunities. The Rage Box companies have won national and regional awards at competitions such as Access Broadway, Dance Educators of America, Starpower, Hall of Fame, Dances Inc., American Dance Awards, Masquerade, Jump and NUVO just to name a few.
