Description

Ramp Technology Group, LLC was founded in late 2000 by key members of the HomeGrocer.com senior management and technology teams. This experienced and talented group made huge achievements working in the collaborative environment of HomeGrocer.com, and started Ramp in order to continue their momentum as a successful team. Since then, the core group has expanded and added great people from a variety of organizations, all of whom share a passion for their customers and for making things happen.Ramp is a complete, proven team made up of expert professionals who have successfully worked together for years. This team developed a highly streamlined project methodology that brings world-class speed to market. Ramp typically utilizes "vanilla" implementations of off-the-shelf applications with custom extensions to achieve the client’s unique functionality requirements, while preserving an easy support and upgrade path. The Ramp team comes from a strong background in the customer side of the business. Our approach is to develop architecture, UX and detailed functional specifications up front, before freezing scope for the initial release. This allows Ramp to typically quote a fixed price and timeline to assist with business planning. This no-surprises approach is appreciated by all involved. In-house staff participation in our projects ensures that knowledge transfer is accomplished and that the in-house team can successfully provide ongoing support and enhancements. Client-source code licenses, without resale rights, and complete technical and operational documentation are also provided to facilitate this.So whatever happened to HomeGrocer.com? is a question that everyone asks. Customers loved the peach, the drivers were legendary in their professionalism, and the produce and seafood were always of the highest quality. We are very proud of our accomplishments at HomeGrocer.com. From commercial launch on May 28, 1998, HomeGrocer grew to more than 2500 staff operating across the nation from eight facilities, and delivering from more than 400 specialized delivery vehicles. More than 100,000 customers used the service with sales in 2000 (stand-alone) of approximately $150 million and annualized sales of more than $400 million. Our team created what is still consistently viewed as the best and largest online grocery company in the world. This entailed design and completion of a world-class technology platform that handled all phases of e-business, including wireless applications. In June of 2000, HomeGrocer was sold to Webvan.com for $1.1B. We were saddened that this ill-fated merger led to the demise of the brand. Will HomeGrocer rise again? We used to say no way. But who knows what the future holds!
