Rapids Sheet Metal was founded in 1915 by Biemler, Schmidt and Bennet. In 1922 Matt D. Schill began working part-time, and in 1929 purchased the business with Dan Lester. Don and Bob Schill, Matt's sons, purchased Dan Lester's share of the operation in 1946 after his retirement. Don and Bob purchased the operation from their father. Currently, Doug Schill and cousin Mike Schill operate the business their grandfather began three quarters of a century ago. Rapids Sheet Metal currently employs 18 people from the area.
