Gilbert Schroeder August 23, 1984 - October 11, 2010 Gilbert Gerold Schroeder “Gillie ” born August 23, 1984, died of a broken heart on October 11, 2010. He is survived by his parents, Gerold & Christa Schroeder of Spring City, Utah and his siblings; David (Maria), Martin (Jill), Ina (Lars), Katy (Cody), Anja, Caroline (Victor), and Tobias (Madison), as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was happiest when he was with his family, friends, riding his motorcycles, playing his drums, and eating doritos. He was loved more by his family and family pets than he realized. You will be missed Gillie. Donations can be made in his name at FarWest Bank to help offset funeral expenses. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spring City church (164 South Main). Viewings will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Rasmussen Mortuary in Mt. Kent Strate October 19, 1925 - October 11, 2010 E. Kent Strate, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grand father, left this earth life October 11, 2010, at his home in Spring City. Kent was born October 19, 1925, to Maybert R. and Leona Strate. He attended the local school and served in the United States Army during World War II. He married the love of his life, Herta Ludwig, on January 5, 1950, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Kent lived to work the soil and loved livestock and spent his life working with both. He was a hard worker that served on many committees to better agriculture. He took much delight in teaching those wanting to learn his trade. He enjoyed picnics in the fields with his family as they were growing up, spending time with extended family, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a faithful member of the church and served in many callings which brought him much happiness. His greatest happiness was serving as a Manti temple worker with his loving wife for 22 years. He is survived by his wife, Herta, his children: Jean (Dan) Nielson, Manti; David (Janene) Strate, Ephraim; Mehl Ree (Lyle) Snell, ... Rex (Bud) Kerby June 10, 1940 - October 10, 2010 Rex “Bud ” Kerby, one of the PRCA ’s top stock contractors for more than 30 years, died Sunday at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. After a brief battle with leukemia. He was 70. Kerby became ill shortly after the completion of a rodeo in St. George on Sept. 18. He was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia a week later. Bud was born June 10, 1940 to Verda May Burdick & D. A. “Swanny ” Kerby in Moab. He married his sweetheart Evelyn P. Mullins on June 21, 1961 in Elko, Nevada. Bud and Evelyn purchased Bar T Rodeo Company from his parents D. A. Swanny and Verda Kerby who has furnished quality stock since 1959 at the WNFR. Bud grew up as a rodeo man. From an early age he has been taking care of the livestock and sharing the love of the animals. Bud competed in the sport of rodeo as a Saddle Bronc Rider and Worked as a Pick up man for many years.
