Description
Raybestos Powertrain, headquartered in Crawfordsville, Indiana, is one of the largest designers and manufacturers of energy absorption, power transmission, wet wheel braking systems, and transmission related friction products in the world, supplying the next generation of quality products for OEM automotive and OEM heavy-duty use.
Manufacturing OEM quality Ray-bond Friction Bonding Adhesives has been an integral part of the Raybestos Powertrain Company product portfolio for over 47 years. These adhesives are capable of withstanding very high temperatures with very high shear strength.
Sullivan, IN – June, 2014 – Raybestos Powertrain has received the Silver Level Achievement Award from Hitachi Construction Truck Manufacturing Ltd., for meeting or exceeding performance stan dards. The award is given to suppliers, based on the quality of incoming parts, on-time shipments and cost reduction programs. “Here at Raybestos, we strive for high quality and excellent shipping performance. We are proud to be a preferred local supplier to Hitachi.
Torque converter wafers by Raybestos Powertrain are manufactured with premium OE tan material containing cellulose fibers, a special blend of saturants which provide excellent co-efficients of friction and high-energy Kevlar® material to prevent shuddering during modulated TCC lock-up. The Raybestos coating process is state-of-the-art and uses PL700 adhesive, the industry standard for the OE market. The coating process forms a lattice structure with the friction material for optimum shear strength.
Our Crawfordsville Technical Center conducts research and development on material formulation, adhesives, pack design, bonding, saturation, and other areas of product development. It also provides technical and application engineering support for all heavy duty and automotive applications. Materials are tested on a wide range of dynamometers, including standard SAE #2 machines, Torque Converter stands, TO4's, GKII, strokers, and an 8-speed transmission coupled to a 335 kW motor used for testing wet wheel brake products.
