Melissa Baker found her new beginning at ReadyOne Industries three years ago. Sitting at a specially designed workstation for the blind, she guides camouflage-patterned material into the sewing machine that stitches Velcro onto military uniforms at the company that used to be known as the National Center for the Employment of the Disabled. “This job has given me something to look forward to everyday,” said Baker, 38, who lost her sight after she was shot in the head in 2003.

It’s a brand new business venture created by one of El Paso’s largest employers. The ReadyOne Contact Center officially opened October 1 with 17 new employees and plenty of room to grow. “We have been working on the project for over a year, and we were really pleased to enter into an agreement with United Blood Services to serve their needs. They are our first customer, and we think it is very special and significant to be working for another not-for-profit agency,” said Tom Ahmann, CEO of ReadyOne.

Our Product Development Team has over 100 combined years of experience in various packaging, commercial and military apparel products with a 4,930 square foot engineering space, product development office and sample room/design lab. ReadyOne Industries employs a minimum of four experienced sample-makers on staff at all times.
