EPISODE 130 Airdate: Week of 9/6/10 Today, Shawn is going to jump to the basketball court and meet a former professional basketball player who will tell us about life in the NBA. Then he’s off to see meet a researcher who designs apps for handheld video games and cell phone apps. And, speaking of entertainment, Shawn’s also going to talk with a lawyer who specializes in the entertainment field. EPISODE 131 Airdate: Week of 9/13/10 We’ll start off meeting a mediator who uses her negotiating and people skills to settle disagreements outside of the courtroom. Interested in video games and computers? You won’t want to miss Shawn’s interview with a software engineer at Lockheed Martin. We’ll also meet a booking agent who provides the talent to keep his clients entertained at their company events. EPISODE 132 Airdate: Week of 9/20/10 Shawn’s going to start us off rocking as he meets an artist is known as the world’s fastest painter. You won’t believe your eyes as you witness him transforming a black canvas into a very cool portrait of Shawn. Then we’ll meet a primary care doctor who not only teaches residents but performs a much needed service in providing care for poor people in her area. We’ll also visit with an auctioneer and find out about his job and how he learned to talk so fast! EPISODE 133 Airdate: Week of 9/27/10 We’ll talk with an entrepreneur who has invented many things in her career in our high tech world and is now a digital media expert. Like chocolate? Shawn will visit a store where they make chocolate in all different shapes and assortments and learn about owning a franchise . Then he’ll go to a veterinary clinic and talk to a lady whose love of working with animals brought her to her career as a veterinary technician . EPISODE 134 Airdate: Week of 10/4/10 Most jobs involve some type of training or education. But a traditional college degree is not for everyone. Today, we’re going to show you some careers that don’t require spending 4 years or more in college. Like tinkering with cars? We’ll learn about what it takes to become an auto technician and work on today’s increasingly complex automobiles. Maybe instead of working under the hood, you’d rather be working underwater. How about a career as a scuba instructor ? Or perhaps the sight of pesky critters above the surface intrigues you. We’ll learn about a career in pest control. EPISODE 135 Airdate: Week of 10/11/10 Shawn spent a day at the University of Central Florida’s Institute of Simulation and Training. Simulators can be used for almost every type of situation... from preparing soldiers to go into combat... to training teachers and nurses... to improving driver and piloting skills. The staff and students at UCF’s I S T are involved in researching how simulation can be improved upon and made even more real. Shawn was surprised to find that teams of all sorts of people work together on simulation research. Whether you’re interested in psychology... graphic arts... acting... engineering... history... computers... or architecture, to name a few.
