Redwood City Vice Mayor, Rosanne Foust who is also President and CEO of SAMCEDA, (San Mateo County Economic Development Association) and her husband, Jim Hartnett, a Founding Partner in the law firm Hartnett, Smith and Paetkau were recognized at the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce’s 116th Annual Dinner Friday night as the Chamber’s Persons of the Year. Chairman of the Board, Stacey Wagner, Director of Public Affairs with Kaiser Permanente, surprised Rosanne and Jim as they were announced as the two 2013 Chamber Persons of the Year at the event held at the Hotel Sofitel. Foust and Hartnett became the 43rd and 44th members of the Chamber to be so honored since the award began in 1970. Only two other people ever received the award a second time. Jim Hartnett was named Person of the Year in 2001 and Rosanne Foust was Person of the Year in 2009. The Chamber’s Person of the Year Award recipient is selected by the Chairman of the Board and upon making the presentation Wagner said, after speaking about her last year as Chamber Chair, “I honestly can’t imagine the journey I’ve been on without these two incredibly talented people.

The Seminar has been collaborating with Business, Government and Community Leaders for over 45 years. The concept of the Progress Seminar lends itself to an environment of informal discussions about regional issues and the opportunities to meet those issues. The Progress Seminar is unique to San Mateo County and is a testament to business and community leaders that they recognize its importance each year.

Gino Gasparini has been in the recycling and waste industry for over 38 years. Starting out as a residential collection driver in 1972, Gino eventually moved into a route supervisor position, and then became an Operations Manager overseeing approximately 80 collection vehicles on a daily basis. He is currently the Public Affairs Manager at Recology and has been in that capacity for the last 10 years.

Jim has served on the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber’s Board of Directors for over 20 years, served as Chairman of the Board for the first time in 1995, and he was tapped again to serve as Chairman of the Board in 2002. He is a member of the Chairman’s Council. This year he was chosen to receive the first Laurence K. Buckmaster Leadership Fellowship Award. He has served many times as Co-Chair of the Chamber’s Flagship event - the Progress Seminar, and he continues to play an integral part in its program planning each year.
