For over 60 years it has been the goal of the Reece School to meet the educational and therapeutic needs of psychologically fragile children.
The Reece School has a highly academic elementary special education program for 90 students, ages 5 to 13, who are psychologically fragile and may have learning or emotional disabilities or speech and language impairments. The school's program is full-day and is offered within a nurturing environment designed to provide high levels of academic and emotional support. Children study a standard New York State Curriculum for grades K-6 in all academic areas, modified and sequenced to meet their individual needs as expressed in their Individual Education Plan (IEP).
State support covers about 75 percent of the total cost of educating a student at the Reece School. Your contribution to the Annual Fund is the key to providing a margin of excellence that is the hallmark of a Reece education. Gifts to the Annual Fund support the school's most fundamental current needs as well as future goals in the areas of instruction, parent support and program expansion. The quality programs we provide exist only because of because of your commitment to our mission.
The Reece School is a 501(c)(3) private non-profit elementary school in New York City serving children with special needs, ages 5 to 13. Founded in 1848 and chartered by the State of New York in 1955, it is located at 25 East 104th Street next to beautiful Museum Mile in Manhattan. The Reece School is governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees and receives funding from the State of New York and the New York City Department of Education.
The Reece School is one of the oldest non-profit special education elementary schools in New York City. It was founded in 1948 by Ellen S. Reece and was housed for nearly 60 years in the home she owned on East 93rd Street. In 2006, after decades of continually expanding its student body, the Reece School outgrew its old home and moved into a modern, high-tech new building located at 25 East 104th Street, next to the famous Museum Mile and Central Park.
