In manufacturing, companies like Toyota have made a compelling case for stopping the line and immediately fixing a problem. When a repetitive process is out of control, and we continue to let it run, we will produce waste. The cost of reworking this waste is much higher than the cost of stopping the line to fix the problem; therefore we stop production and fix the problem.  It might appear that we should apply the same proven method in product development.
