Q: What is ReviewYou? A: ReviewYou is a service that provides recording artists with insightful, honest, excellently-written reviews of their albums and singles. Our reviews are a blend of the Writer’s opinion of the music and a technical critique of its merit, and are written by members of our seasoned, music-crazy stable of Writers. ReviewYou focuses solely on albums and singles, and does not write press releases or review DVDs, concerts, or venues. It’s all album and single song reviews, all the time. Q: Which genres of music do ReviewYou Writers cover? A: Adult Contemporary, Ambient, Americana, Bluegrass, Blues, Breakbeat, Celtic, Chillout, Christian, Classical, Country, Children’s, Dance, Downtempo, Drum & Bass, Electronica, Experimental, Folk, Fusion, Gospel, Hardcore, Heavy Metal Hip-Hop, Holiday/Seasonal, Industrial, Hybrid, Jazz, Latin, Metal, New Wave, Pop (Power, Synth, Indie, Pop Rock), Psychobilly, Punk, R&B, Rap, Reggae, Rock (Indie, Alternative, Progressive, Stoner, Classic, Garage, Improvisational, Southern, Instrumental), Rockabilly, Roots, Singer/Songwriter, Ska, Soul, Techno, Trance, Underground, Urban, World Music Q: Does my music have to be officially released on a CD, or can it be in MP3 format? A: Either CD or MP3 format are great for us, and we’re happy to review your album whether it’s been officially released or not. Q: If I prefer, can I pick my Writer from the list on your website? A: Yes. Q: When will my review be done? A: Your completed review will be emailed to you within 12 business days of the date your Writer receives your music. Q: How long will my review be? A: Full-album reviews are usually between 600-800 words. Single song reviews are usually between 300-400 words. Q: Will my review be positive or negative? A: That depends on your music and the Writer’s perception of it. Your album will be put in the hands of a Writer who is experienced in writing about the the genre(s) that your music fits into, so you can be assured of it receiving fair and knowledgeable consideration. We guarantee you an insightful, honest, professionally-written review, but due to the subject nature of opinion-based writing, we make no guarantees about the positive or negative tone that your review may have. Q: How does the rating system work? A: Our Writers use a 5 Star rating system. Five stars is the highest, 1 star is the lowest. We do not issue half-star ratings, such as 3.5 stars. Your Writer will give a rating that they find fitting to the opinions expressed in your review. Q: Where will my review be published? A: Your review will be published on www.reviewyou.com. If your Writer keeps a music blog of their own, it may also be published there. Q: What if I don’t like my review? A: It depends on what you don’t like about it. If you feel the review is poorly-written as far as grammar, syntax, structure, and other technical elements, the ReviewYou Editor will assess the technical merit of the review and make adjustments, if necessary. If you disagree with the Writer’s opinion of your music, or feel that the review is unfair, the ReviewYou Editor will assess your complaint.
