For over 75 years, the Richmond Chamber of Commerce has been serving the Richmond and Madison County areas, aspiring to improve the economic vitality and quality of life in our region. Our mission is to provide vision and leadership through collaboration and support to add value to our member businesses. The Chamber partners with city and county officials as well as neighboring chambers to promote business interests. We are your advocate on the local, regional, state, and national levels on key issues important to Richmond and Madison County.

Richmond was founded in 1798 by Colonel John Miller, a Revolutionary War soldier. In 1798, the Kentucky Legislature authorized the moving of the Madison County seat from nearby Milford to the land owned by Col. Miller. The move was bitterly opposed by about 300 residents of Milford and a fight to retain the seat resulted between Dave Kennedy, who represented Milford, and William Kearly, who represented the new site.
