Description
River Street Planning & Development, LLC is a woman-owned company formed by Margaret Irwin and John Holehan in 1997. We provide professional services to a diverse group of organizations including Federal, state, county, and municipal governments of all sizes, public agencies, private businesses, nonprofit organizations, universities, investors and developers in the northeastern United States. We offer an array of technical assistance that facilitates effective planning, design, financing, administration and evaluation of community initiatives. Our approach is action-oriented, balancing community aspirations for sustainable economic growth with strategies that support affordable housing, create vibrant neighborhoods, and preserve critical assets. At River Street, planning is our primary practice. Our staff includes professionals with experience in community development, urban design, economic development, historic preservation, organization design, management and fundraising. From offices in Troy, New York, we offer services at all points in the planning process from need and market assessment, through plan development, impact assessment and financing, to post-development evaluation and monitoring. We search for practical answers to community challenges and have developed a reputation for professional integrity, community accountability and creativity unparalleled in our field. Our outcome-based comprehensive planning process, CivicPlan, focuses community energy on unique assets and challenges, leading to greater cooperation among all citizens around common interests. Our work incorporates a strong element of public participation, and we regularly provide training, strategic planning and organization development services which build partnerships and guide the management of complex community revitalization initiatives.
