Hollyford Enterprises, Incorporated was founded in 1961 by Robert C. Shinn, Jr. At that time, a young man just out of the Army and with little capital, he worked from his father ’s business, Hollyford Ice Company. The secretary answered the phone “Hello Hollyford ”. This way he was able to obtain free secretarial services. Over the years he had a successful business, named Material Handling Systems, a division of Hollyford Enterprises, Incorporated, selling, renting, repairing and rebuilding Komatsu, Harlo and Yale forklifts, Massey Ferguson and Kubota farm and industrial tractors, hydraulics and other heavy equipment. He bought land, had his own buildings constructed, and kept growing. Our founder also holds two U.S. patents for designs he created and fabricated. At the same time as he was building his business, Shinn became active in Local, County and State politics and expressed a deep interest in the Environment. In the first 26 years he served as an elected official, much of his effort was devoted to Open Space, Pinelands and farm preservation, water supply, and solid waste management issues. Alas, the love of his final position with the State of New Jersey as Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection clashed severely with the love of running his business and fixing the unfixable. Ethics laws prevailed and he divested himself from the Material Handling Systems Division of Hollyford Enterprises, Incorporated However, there were a lot of parts, books, machines and machinery that were not purchased by the new owner, forcing us to build a barn for supplemental storage that the garage couldn ’t accommodate. In the meantime, having grown tired of climbing over boxes and being unable to park in the garage, Shinn ’s wife Paula discovered eBay ™ on the Internet and began listing some items under the user ID of Cillajeanne. Not content with just emptying the garage, her alternate sources for the items include buying out closing service garages, machine shops, overstocks, outdated, and most any inventory other businesses just want to decrease. She also has an eye for antiques and collectibles, so be prepared for great diversity. That brings us to now. Shinn retired from Public Service February 1, 2002. February 4, 2002, we were up and running with another division of Hollyford Enterprises, Incorporated called S2 Concepts, an Environmental Consulting business. We now have the best of both worlds. Shinn still works on environmental issues and Paula has a mechanic to clean or repair/rebuild or identify some items.
