Description

William F. Roberson (Fred) began his accounting career in 1965 with the firm of Phillip W. Hutchings, Jr., CPA. He joined the army reserve in 1967 and upon completion of active duty left public accounting to become controller at a private business until 1971. The enjoyment of public accounting led Fred to join Ricca, Nelson, Gantt and Company. He became a partner in 1974 and stayed until 1980 when the firm merged with Touche Ross and Company. At this time, Fred and Andy Curl formed Roberson and Curl CPAs. The firm experienced rapid growth and both Fred and Andy desired to divide the firm and operate smaller practices. The firm divided on May 1, 1989, and Fred's firm became William F. Roberson, CPA. On July 1, 1998, the firm changed its operating entity from a sole proprietorship to a professional limited liability company and the name became William F. Roberson, CPA, PLLC. On July 1, 1999, Fred's son, James Edward Roberson (Ed) became an owner in the firm. Five years later, on July 1, 2004, the firm purchased the practice of Linda W. Whitaker, CPA. After working in the accounting department of a local business, Linda Whitaker began her career in public accounting in 1976 with the local firm of Rodenhizer and Umstead, CPAs. After Mr. Umstead's retirement, she became a partner with Harry Rodenhizer in the firm of Rodenhizer and Whitaker, CPAs. She continued the practice after Mr. Rodenhizer's retirement for eleven years as Linda W. Whitaker, CPA until July 2004, when William F. Roberson, CPA, PLLC purchased her firm. William F. Roberson, CPA, PLLC 's purchase of the firm of Linda W. Whitaker, CPA resulted in combining two practices and personnel which is now our current operation. On December 14, 2009, the firm name changed to Roberson CPA Firm, PLLC. The change occurred to better reflect the firm as it currently operates. Ed Roberson is now serving as the managing member of the firm.
