Recently retired from full-time employment, Louise continues to work with schools and districts as they plan for change and growth, including the investment in technology. She contributed to the profession through the William S. Hart Union High School District in Santa Clarita, California for 33 years, directing and planning special programs, libraries and learning resources, professional development, and technology. Her responsibilities included the developing and managing the infrastructure of and integration of technology into the curriculum as well as business, student information systems, and general office operations; directing professional development for certificated and classified staff; supporting mentor teachers and the induction of new teachers to the profession; overseeing categorically funded programs; seeking and directing grants; and managing library media and textbook resources. Her first role in the Hart District was as a school librarian, first at Placerita Junior High School and later at Saugus High School . She also served as adjunct faculty member at College of the Canyons for more than 20 years, both as reference librarian and instructor. She represented the Hart District at the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce and its Education Foundation. Since 1979, she has served on visiting committees for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges in their accreditation process and for the California Department of Education . For the past 15-plus years, she has been a master trainer for both organizations. Described as a principled instructor who provides practical tips, Louise presents workshops at local, state, and national conferences on school reform, grant writing, libraries and learning resources, adult learning and professional development, long-range planning, technology planning and implementation, and programs for limited English proficient students. Louise received awards for "Outstanding Achievement for District Support Services" in 1989 and 1995 from the Santa Clarita Valley Chapter of the Association of California School Administrators . A 30-plus-year member of Phi Delta Kappa , she served as president of the Santa Clarita Valley Chapter and received its Service Award in 1992. Louise maintains her affiliation with the California School Library Association . She served as a regional representative and state Vice-President-Legal in the 1970's. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Texas at Austin, Texas, a Master of Arts from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, and her Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Growing up in Houston, Louise is the product of Texas public schools: West University Elementary School , Pershing Middle School , and Lamar High School , all part of the Houston Independent School District. The town has more than 2,700 homes that are 70 or more years old! Each year on Mother's Day, the Monrovia Old House Preservation Group conducts an Old Homes Tour.
