Description

Named for one of my favorite clients, the belt is black with tan rolling flowers and uses a black lizard background to bring the laced edges to the forefront. This pattern also looks great in medium to dark brown. Stunning is a word that best describes this color combination. The tooled leather is dark brown with a rich cognac lizard background, and the white stitching perfectly frames the beauty of this pattern. This is a duplicate of a pattern found on a dusty old belt hidden in an attic. The light brown and black tooled background highlight this classic design. This pattern depicts the long travels of Captain John Mullan through the plains and mountains of the west. The flowing leaves and flowers make this pattern easy to use on almost any color palette. Dark brown and black are used in this sample. This belt was constructed for the sole purpose of showing off rare sterling sliver and 14k gold conchos and accent triangles. Rare as in the fact the last time these conchos and triangles were made and used was in the 1930s. The longtime masters of silversmithing and engraving, R. Schaezlein and Son were kind enough to recreate these from their archives. The belt has small filigree accents of red lizard. This was a one of a kind piece of art, and the story behind the recreation is permanently burned into the back lining of the belt. Please feel free to contact me about making a new one of a kind piece. Classic mahogany brown belt with bright gold Karung snake background. Miniature black buckstitching on the edges of the belt. Light mahogany belt with green lizard background and dark brown miniature buckstitched edges. This color combination really shows off the "Clark Fork" tooling pattern. This belt was my pedestal entry in the 2005 Western Design Conference. Many people who attended the conference had never seen the unique combination of this fashion belt before. The edges are dark brown with a light tan center. Each flower center is inset with a natural cabochon of Lone Mountain Turquoise. The stunning blue turquoise is highlighted by the silver/gold snake skin background. The 2 1/4" wide belt is handlaced using kangaroo lacing. My favorite customer, Ruth Ellen, commissioned this one of a kind wearable piece of art. Challenging and fun! This waist belt was commissioned for the owner of Cayuse Western Americana in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I was given the opportunity to marry fine engraved conchos made by Jerimiah Watt with my renown filigree work. The body of the belt is a three-tone dark brown. I used gold snake skin to accent the flowing handtooled scrolls. I recreated a vintage Bohlin belt so as to accomodate the new owners waist size. The 21 Club buckle set is the original set worn by the owner of the infamous 21 Club of the 1940's and 1950's New York. I reused all of the 14K gold and ruby accents that adorned the original belt. It was an honor to be chosen to bring this belt and buckle set back into public view. I love the stunning accents of turquoise lizard in the background of this belt. I made this belt for my favorite bootmaker and good friend, Lisa Sorrell.
