Description
A Glimpse of the Area Charlotte County is located on the southwest Gulf Coast of Florida between Sarasota and Lee Counties, homes, respectively, to the cities of Sarasota and Ft. Myers. Punta Gorda, the only city in Charlotte County, was founded in 1880 as Trabue, modestly named by Colonel Isaac Trabue of Louisville, Kentucky, who designated all the waterfront property in the city as park lands, a forward-thinking idea still very much adhered to today.
