Chaz Smidt, Castle View HS Senior, honored as September Student of the Month. Smidt is the first student recognized this school year. Each month during the school year the Rotary Club recognizes students for their academic achievements, school activities and community service. Smidt carries a 4.0 grade point average and has been a member of the National Honor Society since 2009. He is enrolled in three advanced placement classes and has qualified for the Nationals in the school's DECA program. He is a two-sport athlete in tennis and basketball, was captain of the tennis team and given the Sabercat Award for his work ethic, attitude and leadership. Smidt has performed community service on mission trips to Mexico and New York City, has helped the Salvation Army, completed Eagle Scout Projects and helped with Larkspur Elementary's Fall Festival. Smidt said he hopes to attend the Air Force Academy and major in a business related course of study.
