Description
St. Mark’s Grammar School for boys was established in 1867 as Utah’s first educational institution; then in 1880, Rowland Hall, an all-girls boarding school, was founded to educate the daughters of miners and ranchers in the Intermountain West. The Episcopal Church continued to sponsor both schools until 1948 when the school became “independent,” and although it is no longer an Episcopal school, our school today proudly honors its historic relationship with the Episcopal Church.
All parents are members of Rowland Hall’s Home and School Association, our parent-teacher organization, and are encouraged to attend meetings and become involved in either the McCarthey Campus Home and School Association or the Lincoln Street Campus Home and School Association, or both, depending upon the grade level(s) of their child(ren). The fee for membership in the Home and School Association is $35 per year, per family.
Gifted and dedicated teachers make up our faculty, 70 percent of whom hold or are pursuing advanced degrees. They are talented role models who, by their continual quest for knowledge and personal growth, motivate students to pursue their own studies with passion. Many are veteran teachers with more than a dozen years of teaching experience in their grade level or course of study.
