These families live in a world of fragments: fragmented time, fragmented strength, and fragmented resources. Regardless of our circumstances in life, we all have choices, and we see caregivers make choices every week. They choose to care for their loved ones, and also for themselves. This is a healthy decision, and adult day health care helps families do just that…care for one another. The LIFECare Center meets many of the physical, mental and social long term needs of impaired adults. It is an important community based option designed to allow people to remain in their homes, delaying and/or preventing nursing home placement. LifeCare offers specialized services to enhance the participant, caregivers and families lives: nursing care (medical and nutritional monitoring), personal care (including bathing toileting, diapering), and structured daily activities including music therapy, exercise, daily devotions, and social events that keep participants engaged and enjoying life to their fullest capabilities. Caregivers and other family members are able to continue employment and social responsibilities with a minimum of interruption knowing that their loved one is in a safe, loving environment under the supervision of trained, licensed professional staff. According to Partners in Caregiving, “For every person enrolled in an Adult Day Care, two people get their life back: the individual and the caregiver”. Opened in 2001 with 6 people, today, the adult day care serves over 50 families and has expanded and upgraded our facility. A large sunroom, large and small activity rooms, a secure patio and yard area, state of the art personal care and bathing facilities, healthy and varied meals and snacks, experienced nursing, activity, chaplain and social work staff are all part of the LifeCare experience.
