Search Institute Home Search Institute is an independent nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide leadership, knowledge, and resources to promote healthy children, youth, and communities. To accomplish this mission, the institute generates and communicates new knowledge, and brings together community, state, and national leaders.At the heart of the institute's work is the framework of 40 Developmental Assets, which are positive experiences and personal qualities that young people need to grow up healthy, caring, and responsible.This year's Conference with its theme, Asset Building Comes of Age: Transforming Society With Youth, will focus on the how-to's on intentionally changing social norms. Conference sessions will address such questions as: What does a mature HC•HY initiative look like? What are the indicators that tell you an initiative has "come of age"? What strategies helped to integrate the asset approach in community-change efforts?
