SF Community Power was founded in 2001 with a $1.5 million grant from the San Francisco Department of the Environment. We originally focused on the Bayview-Hunters Point and Potrero Hill neighborhoods, providing energy management services to low-income families and small businesses, training under- and unemployed individuals in the neighborhood to implement energy conservation measures, creating the award-winning Treasure Trek , and successfully advocating for closure of the Hunters Point Power Plant and to stop the expansion of the Potrero Power Plant. Over the past several years, and with funding support from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, California Energy Commission, and California Public Utilities Commission, among others, we've expanded to serve homes and businesses throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and to pilot cutting-edge ways to better manage our scarce resources.

On March 1, 2011 the Potrero Power Plant will join the Hunters Point Power Plant, which was closed in 2006, to become a dirty relic of the past. SF Community Power was founded in 2001 in part to shutter these facilities, which were among the oldest and most polluting in the state, and San Francisco's largest stationary sources of air pollution. Working with other community groups and city leaders, our advocacy efforts succeeded.

Our staff has extensive experience with all aspects of resource-related regulatory work, having developed strategies, drafted testimony, and served as expert witnesses before the California Air Resources Board, California Energy Commission, California Public Utility Commission and State Water Resources Control Board, among other venues. Over the course of two decades, and on behalf of a variety of clients, we have consistently provided effective representation and expertise on complex public policy issues.

We're available to convene small businesses and residential customers in structured learning conversations, and to conduct surveys about your product. We?ll obtain feedback on your marketing materials, test-drive sales pitches and provide an assessment of how your product's attributes can be better communicated to potential clients.

SF Community Power is working with low income families and small businesses to develop verifiable ways of reducing greenhouse gas and criteria pollutants.
