The firm principals are members of the American Institute of Architects, and bring many years of combined experience in commercial, institutional, and residential building projects. Ronald Murphy, AIA rmurphy@smrarchitects.com A co-founder of SMR Architects. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Oregon and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Washington. Ron's emphasis has been multi-family housing and commercial historic preservation projects. He is a past member of the State Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and the King County Landmarks Commission and, for many years, taught a course on preservation at the University of Washington. Ron is a past recipient of the King County Executive's Certificate of Distinction for Achievement in Historic Preservation, and several of his projects have won National Trust National Honor Awards. Michael Romine, AIA mromine@smrarchitects.com A Principal at SMR Architects since 1997. He joined the firm in 1985, serving as Intern and Project Architect / Manager from 1985 to 1996. Michael received his Bachelor of Arts in History at the University of Colorado in 1969, and his Master of Architecture degree from the University of Washington in 1985. His primary professional focus involves the design and construction of new special needs / affordable multi-family mixed use projects, and the adaptive re-use of historic structures. John Woodworth, AIA jwoodworth@smrarchitects.com A Principal at SMR Architects since 2004. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of Washington in 1989. John worked at both the Stafford Architects in Seattle and The Davis Partnership in Denver before joining Stickney & Murphy in 1994. He currently serves on the Design Review Board for the Southeast area of Seattle.
