The Company was founded in 1973 and is based in Beverly Hills, California. SSI's investment philosophy is built around three basic principles: a sound and objective framework for identifying superior value in the securities markets, a commitment to thoroughly research every investment made, and belief that there is no substitute for experience in successfully managing portfolios.SSI was one of the first investment managers to apply the power of the computer to the investment process, having developed a computer-based stock valuation model in the early 1970's. In addition to this early groundbreaking work, SSI's founders believed that fundamental analysis was also key to producing consistent results overtime. Accordingly, SSI uses both quantitative and fundamental analysis for stock selection. This distinguishes the Company from most of its competitors. SSI's mission, throughout its 32 year history, has been to provide competitive returns with lower risk than other investment managers and comparable investment strategies.
