Steve M. Andersen , President Since founding the company in 1974, Steve has remained active in all SM Andersen Company projects. As president, he provides an executive overview of all company operations on an ongoing basis to assure that the highest level of service, quality and value is provided to all of our clients. His particular expertise includes project assessment and financing, staff selection and assignment, client relations, problem solving, site selection/acquisition and property development. Richard C. Nicoll , Vice President Dick Nicoll has been with the company since 1984. With 34 years of experience, he provides expertise in preconstruction and construction services with an emphasis on value engineering, cost estimating, construction document review and project planning. His vast knowledge of the local contracting market, exceptional skills in conceptual estimating, and a systematic, professional approach ensures the flexibility required to adapt our services to fulfill each owner's requirements. Cost Controls: SM Andersen employs very aggressive cost controls. The heart of our cost control system is the detailed estimate. Throughout the project, the project team uses a computer-assisted cost control system to evaluate actual costs for labor, material, equipment, and subcontracts against the detailed estimate. This provides the feedback necessary to quickly identify critical cost variances. Our project managers use the information generated to evaluate and fine-tune work practices and procedures. The timely productivity reporting, coupled with our ability to monitor subcontracts, material buyouts and equipment costs enables us to develop final cost-at-completion projections for all work activities. With this information, potential savings can be identified early in the process. The owner then has the opportunity to utilize the savings for optimizing the project work scope. Weekly cost review meetings ensure construction expenses are kept in line with the project budget. Safety: Safety is of the utmost importance at SM Andersen.
