Stanley M. Haw P. E. is a graduate of Fenn College (Cleveland State University) with a B. S. Civil Engineering. He started his engineering career with The Goodyear Aircraft Company in Akron, Ohio, in the building shown above. Brief History of S. M. Haw Associates, IncorporatedBeginning S. M. Haw Associates was started in 1971 by Stanley M. Haw, P.E. who left his position of project engineer and designer with The Osborn Engineering Company, a long established consulting engineering firm in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Philosophy The initial philosophy of Mr. Haw was to provide quality structural engineering services for industrial clients. Contractors, engineers and industrial owners were the initial target market. Early Clients For the first few years, SMHAW concentrated on providing structural steel detailing services to several fabricators. We became more heavily involved with engineering for industrial owners, such as Diamond Shamrock Corp. and DuPont, and we did less and less structural steel detailing over time. Present Size The firm continued to grow from a single owner/engineer to our present staff of 5 professional engineers, 2 engineers in training, 4 senior designer draftspersons, several draftpersons, and office administrator. Employee Loyalty Two of the employees came with our firm the first two years of business, and are still with the firm today as lead designers. We are proud of our loyal employees that have stayed with us for many years. In fact, several of our employees have more than 12 years with the firm and four have more than 30 years. This degree of loyalty is exceptional for our small firm. Stone Facade Niche In 1984, we were introduced to the stone façade market by Osborn Engineering Company and one of our industrial clients, Industrial First Incorporated Today, this niche constitutes over 60 percent of our business and we have many prominent projects located all over the country, with some abroad as well. Management Since 1996, our ownership consists of Michael Haw, PE, President; David Haw, VP and Stanley Haw, PE, Chairman. Michael and David, Stan’s sons, are heavily involved in the stone façade side of the business. Quality Service Continuing from the initial philosophy of the founder, S. M. Haw Associates, Incorporated, provides structural designs and drawings that are very functional and accurate. We take pride in the fact that our clients continue to return for our unique engineering services along with our CAD drafting services.
