Description
Indiana: Beginning November 1, 2010, paper renewals will no longer be available for the non-resident producers. In addition, beginning on the same date, the Department will no longer mail a renewal notice through U.S. mail. As of November 1, 2010, all renewal notices will be sent electronically to the email address we have on file through Sircon. If the Insurance Department does not have a valid, current email address, a renewal notice will not be sent. Thus, it is very important that email addresses are provided, and updated, through Sircon. Delaware: A new flood insurance option that provides temporary financial relief to property owners affected by recent flood map changes will be available soon. A Preferred Risk Policy, or PRP, is a low‐cost policy available for residential and non‐residential buildings and their contents based on preferred rates for qualified structures in moderate‐to‐low risk areas. As of January 1, 2011 FEMA will be extending the eligibility of the PRP for up to two years after a building has been mapped into a high‐risk area. This new option is a result of map changes through FEMA’s Flood Map Modernization program (now Risk MAP)1, which uses more current data and the latest technology to update flood maps. Virginia: Pearson VUE, in cooperation with the Virginia Insurance Department, announced a revision to the effective date for the new insurance general product knowledge outlines in Virginia. The effective date has been changed to April 1, 2011, instead of March 1 as was previously announced to the industry. Washington: Effective immediately the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner will begin accepting non-resident producer applications through NIPR. The applications accepted will be: Producer only, Full lines only (Life, Disability, Property, Casualty, Personal Lines, Variable), and Applicants with “Yes” answers to background questions will be accepted. Those applicants interested in applying online for other license types (limited lines, surplus lines, life settlement broker, adjuster) may do so on Washington’s website ( www.insurance.wa.gov ). In addition, Washington will also begin to accept non-resident producer renewals with “Yes” answers to background questions. These types of renewals were previously not accepted through NIPR. Michigan: Michigan Insurance Code requires licensees to report a change of mailing address to the Commissioner within 30 days of occurrence; failure to do so is a violation of the Insurance Code and subject to penalty. Individual Producers, Solicitors, Counselors and Adjusters must report a change of mailing address using the NIPR gateway at www.nipr.com . Beginning January 1, 2011, the Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR) will be assessing a $100.00 fine to licensees who fail to report a change of mailing address within 30 days from the date of the change.
