But because the typical news cycle is 24-48 hours, we feel many consumers will miss an important story. Based in the Washington, DC area, we aggregate the most important safety news from government agencies, non-profit entities, trade associations, manufacturers, safety advocates, and consumers, as well as a vast assortment of media outlets. Our information spans across content categories and disciplines. While government agencies are broken down by specific tasks and missions – Consumer Product Safety Commission, Food and Drug Administration, National Transportation Safety Board, etc. — we select the most important safety news of the day from across the spectrum which affects the largest number of consumers. Our Mission SafetyCheck’s mission is to keep you informed about products you use on a daily basis. By using a variety of news and information sources, our goal is to make it easier for consumers to quickly get the information they need and to act upon it. As an independent information-gathering entity, we are not political. Our site links to both large and well-known groups as well as small grass-roots organizations who share a similar drive to keep their families and fellow citizens safe, as well as to manufacturers and trade associations who develop, promote or market product enhancements that make the public safer. We feel it’s important whenever possible to highlight the “good news” as much as publishing safety warnings.
