Description
Elvire suffered a severe head injury in a fall down a flight of stairs on Sunday afternoon May 27th. She was air lifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center where she underwent neuro surgery for a subdural hemotoma. She was in a coma for approximately two weeks. She finally woke up and has made great strides since. After a period of 37 days in the hospital she was finally well enough to get into a rehabilitation program. On July 3rd Elvire was transferred to St. Johnland Nursing Center in their Head Injury Rehabilitation Unit. She remained there until her discharge on September 28th. Her rehab was a great success and she has finally come home to be with me and continue her rehab on an out patient basis.
