Description
Even when there is no camera in my hand, I practice "seeing." Photography Is My Passion. I am self-taught. I took advantage of every opportunity to learn--seminars, classes at local colleges, and reading magazines and books. Photography is fun because it combines art and science--I got a kick out of experimenting with film, chemicals, and paper to create perfect black-and white prints. I was more of a darkroom rat that photographer in the early years. Offering my services to churches, small business owners, and nonprofit organizations, I would shoot any and everything for little or no pay, just to gain experience. My freelance career began in my small apt dining room, made into a studio with a few chairs and a couple of rolls of black seamless paper hung from the ceiling. I shot portraits, glamour, and small products. The bathroom became a darkroom at night. Before I knew it, through word-of-mouth an networking, the number of clients grew and a full-time business developed. Clients include design firms, talent agencies, boutiques, and manufacturers. I also shot for hotels, engineering firms, various publications in metro DC-Baltimore. I started with "two and a half cameras--two bodies and (one for color the other for black and white) and one lens. I now use state of the art digital cameras and imaging hardware and software. Over the years I have developed skills in photo manipulation, retouching, and special effects using a number of photo-imaging applications. These include the latest and greatest as well as some oldies but goodies for effects that are not easily accomplished in the newer applications.
