Description
Samaritan Medical Center and Good Samaritan Hospital are located on the property known many years ago as Lester, Cilker & Lester Ranch. It was purchased in 1918 by Will and Nathan Lester (brothers) and William H. Cilker, their bother-in-law who passed away in 1922. This fine prune and apricot orchard had its own packinghouse, and a quarter mile spur track of the Peninsula Interurban Railway - one of two on its extensive county line - to service it. Both the Lester and Cilker families have deep roots in the valley. Their forefathers immigrated here in the 1870's and immediately started agricultural developments.
