Founded in 1985, the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) enables international science and engineering discoveries through advances in computational science and data-intensive, high-performance computing.

About SDSC As an Organized Research Unit of UC San Diego, SDSC is considered a leader in data-intensive computing and cyberinfrastructure, providing resources, services, and expertise to the national research community, including industry and academia. Cyberinfrastructure refers to an accessible, integrated network of computer-based resources and expertise, focused on accelerating scientific inquiry and discovery. SDSC supports hundreds of multidisciplinary programs spanning a wide variety of domains, from earth sciences and biology to astrophysics, bioinformatics, and health IT.

Continuing this legacy into the era of cyberinfrastructure, SDSC is considered a leader in data-intensive computing, providing resources, services and expertise to the national research community including industry and academia The mission of SDSC is to extend the reach of scientific accomplishments by providing tools such as high-performance hardware technologies, integrative software technologies, and deep interdisciplinary expertise to these communities.

SDSC Consultants have experience in computational science and engineering on a variety of vector and parallel platforms. Our consultants are available to assist users with issues related to SDSC computational resources.

SDSC is a service provider for XSEDE , launched during the summer of 2011, and was a major partner in its predecessor, TeraGrid, since its inception in 2002. SDSC is considered a leader data-intensive computing, providing resources, services and expertise to the national research community. SDSC has integrated its activities and resources within the XSEDE cyberinfrastructure to best serve the nation's academic science and engineering research community.
