Like many of you, I got started in the software business more than 20 years ago. I have seen the highs and lows: the vibrant 1980s, the stall of the early 1990s, the Bubble, its burst, and now, the coming renaissance?? Like some of you, I have checked out now and again - but something always brings me back. Perhaps it is the challenge: like many CEOs said in our recent survey, we’re in the software business to “solve customers problems”.So why a new Web site and newsletter? I’ve spent the past few years in your shoes: surfing the Web to find a place where I can get all the information I need about the enterprise software industry: trends, issues, metrics, people, and so on. But I could find no such virtual space. Our Sand Hill Group Enterprise and Software conferences can create this focused, stimulating atmosphere for a handful of days each year but I wanted to have access to that pool of peers and insight all year long.That’s when I decided that we should launch SandHill.com, where enterprise software experts can go for their daily fix of strategic business information – be it news, insight, analysis or community.
