Event: MATINÉE CONCERT Venue: Santa Barbara Public Library - Faulkner Gallery Date & Time: Saturday, 23 Oct 10, 3pm Admission: Free The Santa Barbara Music Club presents an afternoon concert in memory of beloved Music Club member and long-time concert programmer, Emil Torick. Performers will include violinist Philip Ficsor and pianist Paula Hatley playing Massenet's romantic "Meditation" from Thais. Ficsor and composer/pianist Emma Lou Diemer will play two works by Diemer: the contemplative "Elegy" from her Suite for Violin and Piano and the lyrical "Aria" from her Aria and Scherzo. Next, Betty Oberacker will play Mozart's majestic and passionate Piano Sonata K 310. Finally, violinist Lou Torick, clarinetist Nancy Mathison, and pianist Donna Massello-Chiacos will play a transcription by Emil Torick of Mozart's monumental Clarinet Quintet. Event: MORNING CONCERT Venue: Santa Barbara Public Library - Faulkner Gallery Date & Time: Wednesday, 10 Nov 10, 11am Admission: Free The Santa Barbara Music Club presents a free morning concert featuring outstanding musicians performing music from the Romantic and Modern eras. Performers will include Philip Ficsor (violin), Steven Gross (horn) and Betty Oberacker (piano) playing the powerful and darkly beautiful Trio for Horn, Violin and Piano by Brahms. Adrian Spence (flute) and Egle Januleviciute (piano) will play Jindrich Feld's Sonata for Flute and Piano with its lively and exciting rhythms. The program will conclude with Spence, Januleviciute and flutist Suzanne Duffy performing Doppler's virtuosic and charming Fantasy for Two Flutes and Piano. Pianist Robert Else will perform melodious and passionate Intermezzi by Brahms. Soprano Evie Rangel will sing charming and fresh arias by Rossini. The program will end with duo flutists Beverly Brossmann and Erin McKibben accompanied by pianist Brigitte Hough in the contemporary piece Maya by Ian Clarke and the 19th century dazzler, Doppler's Hungarian Fantasy.
