Before co-founding The Saylor Group, Incorporated in 1994, Jim Saylor had gathered over 30 years of business experience in the service sector in both software and hardware. Jim began his career in 1964 as an Electronics Technician in the United States Air Force, serving locations worldwide including South Viet Nam. He has worked for several major corporations including Data Card Corp., Pertec Corp, EDS and Sperry Univac and has developed several successful small businesses specializing in custom programming, hotel management, web design and hosting and network installation and management. James has attended over 2000 hours of in-house industry specific training courses including, the Microsoft MCSE certification training class. His career has covered a wide spectrum of training to include training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC), on topics including Seaport / Airport Counter Terrorism, which resulted in his lecturing on this subject. His knowledge on this topic allowed him to develop a fleet-wide security plan for all Hvide Marine vessels. Jim’s recent accomplishments include developing a private international frame-relay network utilizing more than 30 integrated platforms in 12 locations, ranging from Saudi Arabia to Lafayette, Louisiana. Included in this project was a successful implementation of a complete Oracle System utilized globally. In addition, his Y2K work resulted in his authoring several Y2K Compliance Handbooks that became self-directed remediation plans and supplied the users with all necessary legal and SEC recommendations. Jim is proficient on most major hardware and software platforms, and has been directly involved in the development of many components of the computer industry. Jim reminds us all that "technology is only a tool, effective management is the solution". Jim has been an active proponent of Corporate Volunteerism and a Community Leader. He has served on the Board of Directors of many community organizations including the “Whitbread Round the World Race Committee”, “Broward Sheriff’s Office Community Council”, "Broward Sheriff's Office South Florida Intelligence Committee", “Volunteer Broward” and the ” Port Everglades Emergency Planning Committee”. His leadership roll in these activities resulted in his authoring handbooks and guidelines for the administration of Emergency Actions Plans that are still in use today. In his spare time Jim has pursued a side career in the missionary field, was ordained and currently ministers to Prison Aftercare Facilities, Eldercare homes and AIDs facilities. On a volunteer basis Brother Jim as he likes to be called currently Ministers to as well as manages a Transitional Living Facility for men coming out of prison. Jim is a desired speaker at local churches and has a true love of "his Christ".
