Cost Effective and Customizable Our used and refurbished SCARAB machines are sold for up to 60 percent of the cost of a new machine. In addition, we provide a 6-month warranty for all turner components. Depending on the refurbishment needs of each used compost machine, the SCARAB team works to customize the turner to match your project needs. Frame is cleaned, sand blasted, re-welded, reinforced, plated where necessary and painted.

Don’t be mislead-make sure your specifications accurately and completely reflect what you need. In an effort to appear competitively priced several manufacturers frequently quote a smaller machine and smaller engine than other competitors. For example, they will claim their machine is an 18ft machine (the machine size specified) but it is actually about 16ft wide and has scrapers/track clearers on each side that “draw in” the other two feet of material. Most manufactures can equip their machines with scrapers.

Back in the early 1970's, a local feedlot contacted SCARAB to develop a way for managing the bedding and manure produced by the feedlot. This conversation produced the first SCARAB compost windrow turner machine that is pictured here. Marvin Urbanczyk, SCARAB's founder, attained worldwide marketing and financial success after conquering challenges early on. Marvin earned the Small Business Association, 1991 Texas Small Business Person of the Year Award.

When looking to buy a compost turner, you may realize that many manufacturing companies are limited to producing only a few machine sizes. However, SCARAB compost machines are customized to fit your specific need. When building a compost turner for you, we start by identifying your composting needs as a small, medium, or large project based on the amount of compost (in tons) the windrow turner will need to turn per year.

Models accommodate 6 through 27 foot windrows (self-propelled straddle type and pull-behind). Both hydraulic and belt driven machines are offered. Patented independent suspension and track design that "floats" the machine across varying terrain. Multiple drive system options: rubber tires, full track (14-30 inches wide), four wheel drive, and drive tires in front with castors in back or transverse configuration.
