If your specialist recommends you see an alternate specialist and/or you require a procedure, your specialist should communicate that concern to your SWHP physician. Except for emergency situations, your specialist cannot refer you to another specialist without authorization from your physician and/or an SWHP Medical Director. This allows your physician to coordinate your care and prevent unneeded duplication of medical services. A referral may be limited to one visit or extended upon request by your physician.

Our mission is to assist prescribers and you in selecting cost-effective drug therapies and providing the highest quality medications to our Scott & White Health Plan patients. To accomplish this goal, an extensive collaborative effort between pharmacy and the medical staff is required.

It is your responsibility to provide information (to the extent possible) the organization and its practitioners and providers need in order to provide care.
