Watch this page for new and exciting news about Scribner Bend Vineyards. 2007 ‘Black Hat’ Tempranillo Awarded – Double Gold Medal SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION SAN FRANCISCO, CA – JULY 1ST, 2010; Scribner Bend Vineyards has been awarded a DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL for the 2007 Black Hat Tempranillo in the San Francisco International Wine Competition. The 2007 Black Hat Tempranillo was officially released on April 25, 2010 and has become the top seller in both tasting room sales and in restaurants in the Sacramento area. The Spanish varietal is considered the “Cabernet”of Spanish wines and is one of the most popular wines throughout Spain. Mark Scribner chose to plant the Tempranillo grapes while reflecting on his own family history in California. The Spanish heritage in California was also a large factor in his decison to plant the acres of Tempranillo. The grapes are grown in the Clarksburg Wine Appellation, in the Sacramento Delta with eight other varietals Scribner grows and bottles for the winery. In its inaugural year, the Brides Choice Awards recognizes and honors vendors from the Wedding Wire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. This years recipients represent the top three percent of Wedding Wires vendor community, which includes over 100,000 wedding vendors from across the US.
