Mel Russo was born and raised in Geneva New York around the shores of Seneca Lake. It was here that he was inspired to attend SUNY Brockport where he achieved his B.S. in Biology with a major concentration in fresh water studies. Mr. Russo has also done extensive graduate work at Cornell University and other graduate institutes where he continued his study of nature. In 1968 he became a biology and chemistry instructor at Romulus High School and later vested his retirement there in 1988. Throughout much of his teaching career he was also involved in agriculture on his family farm overlooking Cayuga Lake in the Town of Varick. During this time, Mel also ran a lake shore construction business during summers, mainly building docks. He also performed most of his own building and repairs around the farm. Coupled with his formal education, these hands-on experiences would prove to be a valuable tool in his new profession. Mel became a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson in 1983 for a local Finger Lakes area firm and then acquired a full time Associate Broker status with the firm in 1988. Subsequently he established Senecayuga Properties in 1990 which became an LLC in 2003.
