History Sequent dates back to 1995, when Mick Seghal started the company. In 2001, Mick was introduced to C.J. Singh by a mutual friend who also was an alumnus of New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). C.J. had launched his company, e-Magination, in 1998. A shared culture, similar business philosophies and complementary personalities paved the way for them to merge companies and become one with the strength to leverage technologies, and later achieve many technological firsts in the country. They moved into in a small office building in picturesque Madison, New Jersey, situated among the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world and a handful of major universities. Sequent’s projects initially consisted of web-based applications and application development for a number of firms. In 2004, the office moved to Morristown, where we launched our Business Information practice working with CXO, which was later acquired by Cisco Systems. The next year we began our PeopleSoft practice, focusing on systems integration. In 2006 we opened a fully-staffed office in Gurgaon, outside of New Delhi. Most of our associates in Gurgaon are graduates of universities in the United States. As a result, our associates fully understand the mindset of American business needs while working with the innovative resources of a large technology pool in India. Sequent Firsts Because we worked with certain types of business in certain sectors, we had the ability to launch new technologies much earlier than other companies who didn’t have the flexibility that small to mid-size companies enjoyed. We were one of the first companies in the country to work with .net technology and one of the first to use Web 2.0 techniques in practical settings rather than a laboratory. Knowledge Transfer Our highly collaborative work environment provides the perfect backdrop to share knowledge with each other. We have found that open concept to be critical in this industry. We encourage all associates at all levels, regardless of expertise, to work on the same projects. This keeps ideas fresh, solutions innovative, and the atmosphere congenial. It also gives our team a well-rounded view of each project.
