How Shorthand Handles Dates Shorthand for Windows is a keyboard simulator which allows the user the store and playback text strings. The current version of Shorthand is Version 8. Date strings entered by the user are stored and played back in the format entered. Date strings generated internally are stored with 4 digit years. For Shorthand Versions 5.41 and later, dialog boxes with date inputs use 4 digit years. Statement of Y2K Compliance The Licensed Version of Shorthand Versions 5.41 and later have been tested by OfficeSoft LLC for Year 2000 (Y2K) Compliance and have been determined, to the best of our knowledge, to be Year 2000 Compliant. By "Year 2000 Compliant", we mean the following: This statement refers to the Licensed Version of Shorthand (version 5.41 and later) and is subject to the condition that all other products (operating systems, other software, firmware and hardware) used in conjuction with the Shorthand program are also Y2K compliant. This statement does not constitute a warranty or extend the terms of any existing warranty. This statement is provided for the sole purpose of assisting our customers in their planning for the transition to the Year 2000. Older Versions of Shorthand Shorthand Version 5.32 and earlier allows dates to be input in either 2 digit or 4 digit year format; if a 2 digit year is entered, Shorthand Versions 5.32 and earlier assume a century value of 1900. Shorthand Version 5.32 has been determined to be Y2K compliant only if 4 digit years are used for dates after December 31, 1999. Licensed users of Shorthand 5.32 should contact OfficeSoft to receive a free upgrade to Version 5.41 which uses only 4 digit years.
