Louis J. Phillips, O.D. Having practiced primary care optometry for over thirty years, Dr. Phillips is a leader in the optometric community. With a particular interest in Laser Vision Correction, he has cared for thousands of patients who have undergone laser vision correction since the procedure was approved in the United States in 1994. Dr. Phillips served as President of the AllSight Laser Center Board of Directors and clinical director at TLC Pittsburgh, and is currently President of the SightLine Laser Eye Center, LLC & SightLine Ophthalmic Associates. Dr. Phillips received his B.S. in Biology from Allegheny College in 1965, and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Optometry in 1969 from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. After graduation, Dr. Phillips did graduate work and taught at the State University of New York College of Optometry, Manhattan, New York. Dr. Phillips and his wife Pauline moved back to the Pittsburgh area in 1972 and raised their four children. Dr. Phillips began Pittsburgh Eye Care Associates in Bridgeville in 1979. Dr. Phillips ’s long-time associate, Dr. Joann Strain, has recently taken over the practice. Active in his profession, Dr. Phillips served 8 years on the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association and as its president in 1988. He has also served as president of the Western Pennsylvania Optometric Association. Dr. Phillips is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and a member of the American Optometric Association. Dr. Phillips is seen as a leader in his profession, and was honored by his colleagues in the Western Pennsylvania Optometric Society by being voted Optometrist of the year in both 1982 and 1996. Dr. Phillips is a founding member and immediate past president of the Optometric Council on Refractive Technologies, a national organization of optometrists involved in refractive surgical care. You can email Dr. Lou Phillips at: LP@sightlinelaser.com Dr. Paul Phillips is a corneal trained ophthalmologist, specializing in corneal pathology and intraocular and corneal refractive procedures. He obtained his B.S. in Biology at Stanford University, where he graduated with honors and also played varsity soccer. He received his medical training at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and his ophthalmology residency training at the University of Virginia. Dr. Phillips completed a highly competitive corneal fellowship at Devers Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon with Dr. Mark Terry, a pioneer in the field of endothelial transplantation. Along with being published in peer reviewed journals, Dr. Phillips has been an instructor in Anterior & Posterior Lamellar Keratoplasty Techniques and a presenter at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology meetings. In addition to his position here at SightLine, Dr. Phillips is an assistant professor at the University of Virginia where he travels to train staff and residents to perform Descemet ’s Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSAEK).
