Founded in 2000, Sightlines was initially conceived as a facilities asset advisory firm. Although most campus leaders could articulate the position of their financial portfolios—the total value of investments, annual return, draw, unrealized gain, and portfolio diversity—they struggled to answer similar questions regarding their facilities portfolios even though the value of a campus' physical plant often exceeds that of its endowment. Sightlines' founding mission was to provide campus leadership with the ability to link facilities operating strategy and financial capacity by providing superior and independent facilities advisory services, thereby fulfilling the need to accurately and decisively measure, monitor and benchmark the physical asset performance of campuses. Now Sightlines, with the largest verified facilities database in the country, has expanded to become a multifaceted knowledge company that leads campuses through a discovery process for facilities management , environmental stewardship , and…coming soon…finance. Additionally, Sightlines offers its members in-depth consulting and technology services . Our offerings expand with the ever-changing needs of campus growth and management. Although our growth has been rapid, our capabilities have expanded well in advance of our needs. For our members, our continued expansion means a greater wealth of comparative data and the enhanced ability to share best practices among member institutions. In addition to our headquarters in Guilford, Connecticut, the growth of our firm has resulted in the staffing of three regional offices—in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania; Hopewell Junction, New York; and Portland, Oregon.
