Description

SignOn was formed early in 1997 by seven experienced sign language interpreters. We wanted to answer the question: how can we provide high quality communication services for deaf and hearing people while also providing a supportive environment for interpreters. Interpreters, historically work alone. Some interpreters expressed a desire to work in a group so they can benefit from supervision and mentoring. We also felt that, in a group, we would be better able to support our deaf consumers and we could be more accommodating to our hearing clients as well.

We endeavor to keep in mind the divergent needs of the communities we serve (Deaf consumers, businesses and agencies, and interpreters), and by establishing an efficient service delivery system, provide services that meet the needs of each of our customers.

Interpreting services should be budgeted as part of your annual planning for accessibility services. It is true that, on a per-encounter basis, you may pay more for interpreting services than you generate in revenue for your company. However, if you consider the cost over the course of a year as an overhead cost of doing business, providing accessible services is quite reasonable.

SignOn: A Sign Language Interpreting Resource is committed to providing quality interpreting services, making communication between deaf and hearing people easy and efficient. With a single contact you access a wide range of expertise—when, where, and how you need it. Customers rely on SignOn for responsive, efficient communication solutions.
