Description
Signiant was spun out of Nortel Networks in August 2000. Signiant’s core technology was developed within Nortel to carrier-grade specifications and implemented by multiple groups within Nortel for several years prior to the spin out. Nortel Network's enterprise-wide data transfer challenges required an advanced solution capable of managing the entire transfer process (set-up, content extraction, multiple distribution schemes, post-processing, end-to-end exception handling, reporting, security, etc.). Since there was no such product on the market, Nortel Networks began a development effort resulting in the robust, agent-based, flexible data movement technology that is now the core of Signiant's product portfolio.Signiant's patent-pending carrier-grade technology is now used for the automated, secure, and reliable transfer of data. Billions of files have been moved without error using Signiant technology. As data volumes double each year, coupled with an increase in application-driven requirements to move data, the market for Signiant's advanced data movement technology is growing rapidly. The increasing cost of managing data at these sites and the high risk of unmanaged data on remote servers has become a top ten issue for IT departments at these companies.
